Musella - Amarone della Valpolicella “Untitled” 2009

Musella - Amarone della Valpolicella “Untitled” 2009

Amarone “Senza Titolo” was the first wine produced by Maddalena in the company, that’s why “Senza Titolo”. It is an important and complex wine, which is produced only in the best vintages.

Soil: red clay and tuff, calcareous soil

Grape varieties: Teroldego, Corvina, Rondinella, Oseleta and Corvinone. No international grape varieties.

The grapes will be destined for the Riserva and for the production of the “Senza Titolo” only in the best years. For the Senza Titolo only the best bunches among those of the Riserva will be used.
The grapes are harvested manually in small crates and taken to a special ventilated room for drying, during which the substance contained and the sugars are concentrated and the grapes lose 50% of their weight. They are then pressed with the feet in small containers. Fermentation is spontaneous by indigenous yeasts in truncated cone-shaped oak vats, with daily manual punching down. The wine is aged in large oak barrels for 4/5 years with only two rackings.

Production is extremely limited.

We are in Verona, Valpolicella Classica, in San Martino Buon Albergo. The Musella winery was born with the Pasqua family from Bisceglie, who have always been involved in the world of Veronese viticulture. The winery is surrounded by a true paradise, a natural reserve, that of Monte del Drago, between 25 hectares of land divided between vineyards, forests, flowers and spontaneous plants, where the fauna of the woods is free to move. Today the company is managed by Maddalena Pasqua from Bisceglie, who since her entry has brought a dynamic and bio-dynamic change within the winery and production.

In the vineyard, the dictates of biodynamic agriculture are followed, and in the cellar, the same principles are followed, paying the utmost attention to the creation of clean, elegant and fine wines without the aid of invasive chemicals. The containers used for fermentation, strictly spontaneous with indigenous yeasts, and for the refinement of the wines are large oak barrels that are almost no longer toasted, cement and porcelain eggs and containers built specifically in red Verona marble, to make the grapes, which grow on the red earth that covers the nature reserve, feel as at home as possible.

The harmony of the cellar and the Relais where you can stay, also remains within the wines made by Maddalena, guardian of a unique reality.
