Louis Roederer - Collection 243 Deluxe

Louis Roederer - Collection 243 Deluxe

Collection 243 sold with Deluxe box set.

The origins of Champagne 243 are divided as follows: one third comes from the "Rivière" vineyard, one third from the "Montagne" vineyard and one third from the "Côte" vineyard. By integrating the grapes from our own vineyards, we also use those from selected "Cœur de Terroir" parcels from partner winemakers.

The grape varieties used are distributed as follows: 42% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir and 18% Meunier. The 243rd blend of Maison Roederer includes 31% perpetual reserve wines from the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 vintages. In addition, we use 10% reserve wines aged in wood from the 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 vintages.

For the 2018 harvest, 59% of the grapes were used. Only 26% of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation. The dosage is 8g/l.

Champagne Collection 243 presents itself with a bright gold color with iridescent reflections. Its effervescence is fine and dynamic, with a very persistent perlage. The bouquet is immediate, ample and pleasantly fresh. It is a triumph of ripe and delicate fruits, in which you can precisely recognize the yellow fruits such as the mirabelle plum of the Pinot Noir and the sugary citrus fruits such as the lemon cake. You can also detect aromas of delicate white flowers such as the jasmine of the Chardonnay. After a few minutes, notes of autolysis emerge, with smoky hints and lightly toasted pastry.
In the mouth, the wine is dense, deep, with a rich and structured texture. The texture is intriguing, while the full-bodied material of the Pinot Noir floats in the mouth and lingers with an immense saline freshness and a hint of bitterness. This wine combines the strength, intensity and power of the Pinot Noir with the mastery and maturity, deliciously balanced by the chalky freshness and density of the Chardonnays that dominate this blend.
The warm and delicious style of the Champagne Collection 243 is due to the perfect maturation of the 2018 vintage. But the freshness, energy and complexity of the Réserve Perpétuelle created in 2012, as well as the woody texture given by the oak, relax and prolong the material, giving it finesse and persistence!

The Maison Louis Roederer's "Collection" project was born in response to contemporary issues related to environmental sustainability and climate change. The goal is to create ever-better champagnes, using the vintages available to the Maison. One of the peculiarities of Louis Roederer is the large availability of reserve wines aged in wood. Thanks to these refinements, the wines evolve slowly over time, increasing oxygenation, roundness and complexity, offering a unique sip for each Collection. The number on the label refers to the blends used since the foundation of the Maison.
