Domaine Charvin - Châteauneuf-du-Pape rouge 2020
Domaine Charvin - Châteauneuf-du-Pape rouge 2020
This Châteauneuf-du-Pape rouge comes from the Cabrières Nord vineyard, located in the municipality of Orange in the southern Rhône. The vines are bush-trained with a density of 2,500-4,000 vines/hectare. The clayey-sandy soil with pebbles guarantees quality vinification, with spontaneous fermentation and temperature control. After aging in cement for 21 months, this wine is not filtered or clarified, resting for 5 months before being released for sale.
Grapes: Grenache for the most part, followed by Syrah, Mourvèdre, Vaccarese and Counoise.
Domaine Charvin was founded by Guillaume Charavin in 1851. Today, Laurent Charvin is at the helm, with 33 hectares of organic farming and Écocert certification.
The philosophy of the Domaine is as non-interventional as possible, from fermentations with indigenous yeasts to sulfur in minimal quantities.
There is an excellent use of cement as a container for refinement and a great use of the whole bunch in vinification, necessary to preserve the freshness of the grapes in the proposed wines.
The Domaine produces three labels:
Châteauneuf du Pape, Côtes du Rhône Rouge and the entry wine the Vin de Pays de la Principaute d'Orange Rouge “À Côté”
