Côtes du Rhône Rouge 2021 - Domaine Charvin
Côtes du Rhône Rouge 2021 - Domaine Charvin
Domaine Charvin's Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge is a red wine from the Rhone Valley made from a blend of 85% Grenache, 15% Syrah and Mourvedre, and a small amount of Carmignano.
The grapes are harvested in the lieu dit Maucoil in the municipality of Orange, grown with sapling pruning and cordon de Royat on clayey-sandy soil. The vinification aims to maintain freshness, with whole bunches and is as little interventionist as possible, fermentation is spontaneous and, if necessary, at a controlled temperature. A maceration of 17 - 25 days is followed by aging in cement for 21 months and five months of rest in the bottle.
Domaine Charvin was founded by Guillaume Charavin in 1851. Today, Laurent Charvin is at the helm, with 33 hectares of organic farming and Écocert certification.
The philosophy of the Domaine is as non-interventional as possible, from fermentations with indigenous yeasts to sulfur in minimal quantities.
There is an excellent use of cement as a container for refinement and a great use of the whole bunch in vinification, necessary to preserve the freshness of the grapes in the proposed wines.
The Domaine produces three labels:
Châteauneuf du Pape, Côtes du Rhône Rouge and the entry wine the Vin de Pays de la Principaute d'Orange Rouge “À Côté”
