Barolo DOCG "Riserva Bricco Boschis Vigna San Giuseppe" 2017 - Cavallotto

Barolo DOCG "Riserva Bricco Boschis Vigna San Giuseppe" 2017 - Cavallotto

From the historic Cavallotto estate in Castiglione Falletto, this Riserva comes from the Vigna San Giuseppe, the noblest parcel within the Bricco Boschis cru.
Southwest-facing at 300 meters elevation, the vineyard’s old Nebbiolo vines thrive in calcareous-clay soils rich in marl and sand.
Cavallotto farms organically and vinifies using native yeasts, long macerations in cement tanks, and ages the wine in large Slavonian oak casks for five years, followed by bottle aging.

The 2017 vintage, warm but balanced, yields a Barolo of expressive depth: dark fruit, dried rose, incense, licorice and tea leaf on the nose; a broad, intense palate with firm yet integrated tannins and a lingering mineral finish.

Best with: braised meats, truffle pasta, aged cheeses.
Cellaring potential: 20+ years. Peak drinking from 2030 onward.
